From the Options dialog, select Notes

The Notes Options dialog enables you to configure the settings for the Notes view.

Descriptions

Turn on spell checking by default: Specifies whether to turn on spell checking when editing an entry.

Default Category: Sets a default category to use for new entries.

Background Picture: Sets a picture to use as a background for new entries.

Child Item Icons: Specifies how the hierarchical icons should be shown.

Default Title: Sets how a default title should be formed.

Set focus to title when adding a new entry: Specifies whether the cursor should be focused in the title or in the main editor when starting a new entry.
